ABSTRACT: The classroom environment is deeply associated to quality and efficacy of the educational process, by being essential not only to put trust in children’s achievements but also to the development of social interactions with the whole school. Besides, the classroom environment implicates a group of other imperative dimensions to educational process. This investigation assignment intends to lean over the study of the classroom environment and the students and teachers perceptions of it. This study will however be made by comparing this perceptions in two teaching methodologies, namely, the Traditional Teaching and The Modern School Movement. Therefore, questionnaires, that intend to measure the classroom environment perception, were applied, from several dimensions, in two schools: Academia de Música de Santa Cecília and Escola da Voz do Operário. The results obtained in this empirical assignment are related to ninety nine students and their teachers (four). The study presupposed the existence of differences, concerning to classroom environment perception, between both educational methodologies. The differences between the two schools are not only due to the educational methodology that is in effect, but also because of their social context and, specially, the population who integrate it. However, contrary to predictions, there were no significantly differences in the classroom environment perceptions.
