Pais e crianças envolvem-se, desde cedo no seu desenvolvimento, em diálogos espontâneos
sobre experiências passadas. Estes diálogos são um contexto privilegiado para a discussão
das emoções, particularmente quando as experiências foram emocionalmente salientes. O
género dos participantes tem sido identificado como uma variável que influencia a forma
como a narrativa é estruturada e como as emoções são tratadas. Participaram 79 crianças
portuguesas, provenientes de instituições de ensino pré-escolar, e os seus cuidadores, em
díades mãe-criança (n = 74) e pai-criança (n = 56), numa tarefa de reminiscência sobre
eventos emocionalmente salientes. As narrativas foram cotadas através das escalas paralelas
do AEED (Autobiographical Emotional Events Dialogues, Koren-Karie, Oppenheim, Etzion-
Carasso & Haimovich, 2003), para a qualidade da comunicação emocional das mães, dos
pais, e das crianças com cada um dos progenitores. Os resultados mostraram uma elevada
concordância entre pais e mães na forma como comunicaram com as crianças, e uma elevada
consistência da parte das crianças com os dois progenitores. Não se identificaram diferenças
de género significativas. Discutem-se as dinâmicas de comunicação dentro do sistema
familiar, assim como a ligação entre da comunicação emocional durante os diálogos de
reminiscência e a qualidade da vinculação pais-criança.
ABSTRACT------Early on development, parents and children engage spontaneously in dialogues about past experiences. Those dialogues are a privileged context for discussing emotions, even more when the past experiences were emotionally relevant. The sex of participants has been identified as an variable that influence the structure of the narrative and the way emotions are treated. 79 Portuguese preschool children and their parents, participated on a memory talk task, in mother-child (n = 74) and father-child (n = 56) dyads. Narratives were coded with the parallel scales from AEED (Autobiographical Emotional Events Dialogues, Koren-Karie, Oppenheim, Etzion-Carasso & Haimovich, 2003) for the emotional quality of the communication of the mothers, the fathers, and the children with both parents. The results show a highly concordance between parents on their communication with children, and a highly consistence on how children talked with mothers and fathers. There were no sex differences. We discuss the dynamics of communication within the familiar system, and also the connections between emotional communications during reminiscing and the quality of the attachment relationship between parents and children
