Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: Emotional Intelligence (EI) can be defined as the ability to monitor one´s own and others feelings and emotions, to discriminate among them and to use this information to guide one own thinking and actions. In an organizational context, EI has been pointed as an important ability by several thors (e.g. Dawn & Sojka, 2003; Goleman, 2002) that related with performance and leadership. Data has been collected from EI level and leadership, self-perception, and performance evaluations. In this study was explored the relationship between EI, collaborators performance, self-perception, leadership style and if there is no difference in the level of EI as the sexual gender. The results indicate that leadership is not associated with EI level, as with performance, it wasn´t possible to confirm hypothesis However, it wasn´t possible check difference in the EI level as the sexual gender. Considerations and implications of the findings are discussed throughout the thesis.
