Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: This Study was undertaken with the aim of exploring if there were differences between Spanish and Portuguese people in Latent and Manifests behaviors. To achieve this objective it was used the Questionnaire for Aggressive Behavior (QAB) (Vicente & D’Oliveira, 2008) with 61 items divided in two scales (Manifests and Latent behaviors) to which the participants had to answer how often those statements had occurred during the last year in their workplace. The QAB was applied to a sample of 173 participants, all belonging to the working population, of which 89 (51,4%) were Portuguese and 84 (48,6%) were Spanish. The Exploratory factor analysis found four factors for the Scale of Manifests Behaviors: Elements of contexts and Invasion of property, Verbal violence, Physical Violence and theft and Physical violence and only the first factor had a reasonable value of internal consistency. For the Scale of Latent Behaviors there were found seven factors: Hostility/Intimidation, Misuse of organizational objectives, Delays, Lack of credibility, Depreciation, No interaction and Overloading. The values of internal consistency are between excellent and poor. For the comparison between Latent and Manifest behavior between Spanish and Portuguese people there were found differences. On the Scale of Manifest Behaviors it was found that for the Spaniards the most common factor is “Physical Violence and Theft” and for the Portuguese people the most common factor is “Verbal Violence”. On the Scale of Latent Behaviors it was found that for the Spaniards the most common factor is “Delays” and for the Portuguese people the most common factors are “Overloading” and “Depreciation”.
