Abstract(s)
A liderança é considerada extremamente importante no meio laboral. Nas últimas
décadas a vertente negra da personalidade tem vindo a ganhar destaque, nomeadamente a Dark
Triad que engloba os traços de Maquiavelismo, Narcisismo e Psicopatia. Com isto, torna-se
importante o estudo da liderança negra em contexto de trabalho, assim como perceber os
outcomes que advêm das mesmas.
Assim, o presente estudo tem como objetivo entender se a percecção de traços dark nos
chefes pelos colaboradores influencia positivamente a sua intenção de saída. Além disso,
pretende compreender se a insegurança laboral medeia a relação destes dois construtos.
A amostra da presente investigação é composta por 184 participantes que se
voluntariaram a responder a um questionário para avaliar a perceção que os mesmos tinham dos
traços dark nos chefes, a intenção de saída e a insegurança laboral.
Os resultados encontrados demonstraram que a perceção dos três traços dark nos chefes
influenciam positivamente a intenção de saída dos colaboradores e que a insegurança laboral
medeia, de forma parcial, a relação entre os dois construtos.
Com esta investigação conclui-se a urgência de adotar estratégias que minimizem o
impacto das atitudes e comportamentos destes chefes, de modo a que os colaboradores tenham
menores intenções de saída e que sintam menos insegurança no seu local de trabalho.
ABSTRACT: Leadership is considered extremely important in the workplace. In recent decades the dark side of personality has been gaining prominence, namely the Dark Triad which encompasses the traits of Machiavellianism, Narcissism and Psychopathy. With this, it becomes important to study dark leadership in the work context and understand the outcomes that come from these leaderships. Thus, the present study aims to understand whether employees' perceptions of dark traits in bosses positively influence their turnover intention. Furthermore, it aims to understand whether job insecurity mediates the relationship of these two constructs. The sample for this research consists of 184 participants who volunteered to answer a questionnaire that assessed their perception of dark boss traits, their turnover intentions, and their job insecurity. The results found showed that the perception of the three dark traits in bosses positively influence employees' intention to leave and that job insecurity partially mediates the relationship between the two constructs. With this research we conclude the urgency of adopting strategies that minimize the impact of the attitudes and behaviors of these bosses, so that employees have lower intentions to leave and feel less insecure in their workplace.
