Trabalho vs. família: O envolvimento parental nas diferentes dimensões da dinâmica familiar

Nos últimos tempos, dadas as mudanças sócio-culturais a teoria relativa à
dinâmica familiar, tem vindo a mudar radicalmente. Deste modo, o objectivo subjacente
à presente investigação é o de explorar diferentes aspectos da vivência familiar do pai e
da mãe, a saber: a ansiedade de separação materna, o regresso da mãe ao trabalho e a
influência do mesmo na dinâmica familiar, bem como o envolvimento paterno, nas
tarefas familiares e de que maneira é que este influencia ou não a ansiedade de
separação materna. A questão de investigação foi operacionalizada num desenho
metodológico de cariz exploratório transversal. A amostra por conveniência é
constítuida por 178 famílias, onde as idades dos pais estão compreendidas entre os 23 e
os 62 anos de idade, e as suas habilitações literárias entre os 4 e os 19 anos. Foram
aplicadas as escalas de avaliação: “Escala de Ansiedade de Separação Materna” (Hock,
McBride & Gneza, 1989), “Conciliar Trabalho e Família”, “Parent Role Quality Scale”
(NICHD, 1991, Martins, Martins, Mateus, Osório e Fonseca, 2010) e “Escala de
Envolvimento Parental: Actividades de Cuidados e de Socialização” (Monteiro,
Veríssimo & Pessoa e Costa, 2008). Concluímos que os pais concordam quer nas
recompensas quer nas dificuldades em conciliar trabalho e família, bem como nas
experiências parentais; ao mesmo tempo, verificou-se que quanto maior o envolvimento
paterno, maiores os benefícios que este sente nas experiências parentais.
ABSTRACT: In the past time, given the socio-cultural, the theory regarding the familiar dynamic has been through a lot of changes. The main purpose of the following study is to explore different aspects of the family life of both the mother and the father, such as: maternal separation anxiety, the return of the mother to work and the influence that this last one has on the family life, and also the paternal implication, in the familiar tasks, and how this influences the maternal separation anxiety. This was carried out through an exploratory and transversal method. The convenience sample has 178 families, with the parents age ranged from 23 to 62 years old, and their qualifications between 4 and 19 years. There were applied four evaluation instruments: “Escala de Ansiedade de Separação Materna” (Hock, McBride & Gneza, 1989), “Conciliar Trabalho e Família”, “Parent Role Quality Scale” (NICHD, 1991, Martins, Martins, Mateus, Osório e Fonseca, 2010) e “Escala de Envolvimento Parental: Actividades de Cuidados e de Socialização” (Monteiro, Veríssimo & Pessoa e Costa, 2008). We came to the conclusion that the parents agree both in the rewards and the adversities in conciliate work and family, and also in the parental experiences; at the same time, we also observed that the bigger the paternal implication is, the larger are the benefits that the father feels in the parental experiences.
