Abstract(s)
Portugal, Brasil e Estados Unidos.
ABSTRACT: This study is based on a collection of narratives from three women, relative to their experience with adoption of children in Portugal. Each participant was at a different stage of the adoption process: pre-adoption, application submitted/approved, child already integrated in the adoptive family. The instrument used was the Free Association Narrative Interview – FANI, with which it was possible to gather the three narratives. These were subjective to different levels of analysis (individual and comparative), in light of psychoanalytic theory, with the intent of identifying the common aspects, as well as the singularities within the subjective experience of each woman. The results presented find resonance in the fundamentals of psychoanalytical theory and are inscribed in those reported in other articles and studies in Portugal, Brazil and the United States. Particularly notable is the transversality of the central themes common to the three – identity and the maternal feminine, as well as the singularities that emerge individually with greatest intensity – the relation with parental representations, filiation, the feminine and its social imperatives.
