Abstract(s)
comparativamente a outras amostras portuguesas.
ABSTRACT: In this study, we investigated the relationship between perceived stress, predominant coping strategies, and specifically the relationship with self-efficacy in a sample of employees in the food retail sector in Portugal. This was a cross-sectional, correlational study with a sample of 295 employees from the food retail sector. The sociodemographic and professional questionnaire, the Perceived Stress Scale, the Coping Strategies Questionnaire and the General Self-Efficacy Scale were used. The results revealed a higher average value of perceived stress in the sample compared to other Portuguese samples. The most adaptive coping strategies, such as Self-Control and Taking Responsibility, were the ones most often reported by the participants to cope with perceived stress. Employees who reported higher levels of self-efficacy also reported using more adaptive coping strategies and had a lower perception of stress. Due to the scarcity of studies on this population group, this study brings relevant data to the literature, highlighting the need for replication with larger and more heterogeneous samples.
