Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: Mental Wellbeing has increasingly become a concern for everyone. The sale of medications for mental disorders has been increasing, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic, and these may not be the best option for the problem. Thus, an alternative to conventional treatments are the Expressive Arts, which are close to Creative Artistic Therapies (CAT). One example of artistic nontherapeutic intervention is Playback Theater (TP), a type of improvisational theater in which actors/actresses represent stories told by the audience, thus leading to a new way of looking at their lives. It is an intervention that can be applied to different age groups, with positive results in studies already carried out. The main objective of this work was to demonstrate the impact that attending training in Playback Theater has on Mental Well Being in the participants. The Portuguese version of the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well Being Scale was applied to participants in three groups – ILGA-Portugal, Clube Safo and Ultimacto, pre- and post-training. The results demonstrate that the impact of training had significant statistical effects on the studied population.
