Abstract(s)
A legislação portuguesa que rege os serviços de
educação especial não contempla as dificuldades de
aprendizagem como uma categoria das necessidades
educativas especiais. Assim sendo, os alunos que
apresentem dificuldades de aprendizagem não podem
ser receptores de serviços de educação especial tantas
vezes necessÔrios para responder com eficÔcia às suas
necessidades.
Este artigo pretende demonstrar que as dificuldades
de aprendizagem são uma categoria das necessidades
educativas especiais e, por conseguinte, os alunos que
as apresentem devem ter direito a serviƧos especializados
adequados quando especificados nos seus programas
educativos individualizados (PEI).
The Portuguese legislation on special education does not consider learning disabilities as a category of the special educational needs spectrum. As such, students with learning disabilities are not entitled to receive specialized services needed to answer to their special needs. This article attempts to demonstrate that learning disabilities is a category of the special educational needs spectrum; therefore, the students with learning disabilities should receive special educational services when recommended in their individualized educational programs (IEP).
