Abstract(s)
O foco do presente estudo é
Essas descobertas ampliam a
Pesquisas futuras devem
ABSTRACT: The present study aims to investigate the relationship between interparental conflict, parenting practices, and children's internalizing and externalizing behaviors. Existing research indicates that exposure to interparental conflict negatively affects children's emotional and behavioral development, often resulting in increased anxiety, depression, and behavioral problems. The focus of this study is to understand how children's perceptions of interparental conflict interact with parenting practices, according to the dimensions of responsiveness and control, from mothers, fathers, and the differences between the two. The sample consists of 92 triads (mother, father, and child) from fifth and sixth-grade students in the Lisbon area. Data were collected through self-reported questionnaires assessing parenting practices and children's behavioral responses. The results revealed significant associations between children's perceptions of interparental conflict and their internalizing and externalizing behaviors, as well as differences in parenting practices between mothers and fathers. These findings enhance the understanding of family dynamics in conflict contexts and suggest implications for interventions aimed at improving children's well-being. Future research should explore causal relationships and expand the sample size to enhance the generalizability of the findings.
