Abstract(s)
os escritos do meio de uma forma funcional;
que os pais sirvam de modelos quando utilizam o escrito;
Recent approaches to young children’s literacy development emphasise this process as very early one. Literacy development doesn’t begin neither when children start formal instruction, nor when they begin to acquire reading and writing mechanical skills. Thus the roots of literacy development are established very early in life, through real life contacts with reading and writing. So as an early social process it is very important to consider the contribute of the family in promoting these contacts and facilitating the exploration of print. When interacting socially with others and with literacy in real-life settings through reallife activities: - Children will discover functions and forms of - Parents will actas models when using literacy. - Parents will support and motivate the children in The purpose of this article is to provide a brief overview of home literacy environments and the characteristics of home reading and writing activities. We also pretend to analyse the parents’ perception of these activities and the values and attitudes parents hold with respect to family literacy.
