Abstract(s)
Levantámos a
ABSTRACT: This study addresses late adolescence from a psychodynamic perspective. In a society where adolescence is increasingly delayed, we aim to illustrate the internal conflicts experienced during this phase, as it is a developmental period marked by significant emotional distress, statistically observed. At this age, we discuss the importance of identity consolidation, achieving narcissistic balance, experiencing depressive reactivation, and undergoing object changes—issues that have now extended into the university context. What responses does higher education in Portugal have to offer to these adolescents in crisis? How does academic pressure hinder the process? We have raised the issue that seeks to question the added value of a psychodynamic service in a university setting, and we sought to determine if the patient, after six months of therapy, has genuinely improved, particularly regarding the conflicts mentioned earlier. We then organized a case study with a student from Instituto Superior Técnico, and through a thematic analysis of session transcripts, we confirmed both hypotheses.
