Abstract(s)
Este estudo tem como objectivo central analisar as práticas de envolvimento parental e
a sua relação com a concepção de responsabilidade, com um sentimento mais positivo
ou negativo perante a escolaridade. Pretende ainda analisar se existem diferenças em
função do ano de escolaridade (6º e 9º anos) e as habilitações literárias das mães.
Deste estudo fizeram parte um total de 200 mães de alunos do 6º e 9º anos de
escolaridade que frequentam o ensino público na periferia de Lisboa.
Verificou-se que as variáveis sentimento positivo face à escolaridade dos filhos e
sentimento face à própria escolaridade, apesar de apresentarem relações com as praticas
de envolvimento parental, não permitem estabelecer na generalidade relações de causa
efeito.
Concluímos que existe relação entre concepção de responsabilidade na educação dos
filhos e o envolvimento parental.
Verificámos que a variável habilitações literárias das mães apenas introduzia diferenças
ao nível da dimensão disponibilidade pessoal, mostrando-se indiferente para as outras
três dimensões.
Relativamente à variável ano de escolaridade dos filhos a nossa hipótese foi confirmada
para três das dimensões do envolvimento propostas (tarefas casa, disponibilidade
pessoal e mediação social), caracterizados por um decréscimo no envolvimento das
mães do 6º para o 9º ano.
This study has, as its nuclear purpose, to analyse the parental involvement practices and its relationship with the notion of responsibility, with a more positive or negative feeling towards scholarship. It also aims to analyse if there are differences according to the school year (6th and 9th grades) and the scholarship literacy of the mothers. In this study there were 200 mothers analysed, representing children from the 6th and 9th grades that were attending the public school in the suburbs of Lisbon. We did register that the positive feeling towards the scholarship of their children and their own feeling towards school, although presenting some links with the parenthood practices, did not allow making connections in general between cause and effect. We did conclude that there is a relationship between the responsibility conception in the children education and the parental involvement. We verified that the variable “school level” of the mothers only introduced differences in the level of the personal availability, being indifferent in all the other three dimensions. Concerning the variable “school year of the children” our hypothesis was proven for the three dimensions that were proposed (home duties, personal availability and social balance), being marked by a slowdown in the involvement of the mother from the 6th grade to the 9th grade.
