Abstract(s)
Objective: Better clinical outcomes might be enhanced by feedback systems (Lambert & Shimokawa, 2011). The characteristics and attitudes of therapists and clients moderate the effects of feedback (Lutz et al., 2015). Thus this study aims to investigate the perspective of the therapeutic dyad towards the use of feedback systems during psychological counseling. Method: Three therapeutic dyads, attending psychological counseling weekly, had been interviewed. Data was collected by the portuguese version of the Client Change Interview (Sales et al., 2007) and by the Therapist Change Interview. This is a qualitative study, and data was analyzed through the phenomenological methodoly of Giorgi (2009). Results: The therapeutic dyad highlighted the impact of the systems among the therapeutic process. For clients the systems help promote dialogue; for clinicians they promote a better understanding of clients and favor clinical judgment. Conclusion: Feedback systems seem to be a useful instrument for the therapeutic dyad. Trainees and supervisees also seem to benefit from the use of feedback systems.
