Abstract(s)
Pais e Pares (IPPA) (Neves, L., Soares, I. & Silva, M., 1995).
ABSTRACT: The present study aimed to analyze the pattern of attachment with significant figures (mother, father, friends) in young people with delinquent behaviour and to understand the influence of this patterns of attachment in the manifestation of delinquent behaviours. We appealed to Institutions that work directly with young people considered at risk. The sample was consisting of 125 male adolescents, aged between 13 and 18 years (the average age was 16 years old). The Deviation and Delinquency Scale (Gouveia-Pereira & Sanchez, 2010) was used to assess the degree of delinquency and the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA) (Neves, L., Soares, I. & Silva, M., 1995) was used to analyze the quality of attachment to significant others. The results obtained allowed to conclude that the pattern of attachment of these young people is predominantly secure. However there was evidence of an inverse correlation between the attachment pattern and the delinquent behaviours. This pattern is much less secure for the linking of the greater occurrence of the delinquent behaviours (Questionnaire Attachment to Mother r =-.281; p <0.01/Questionnaire Attachment to Father r =-.296; p <0.01/Questionnaire Attachment to Peers r =-.198; p <0.05).
