Abstract(s)
Objectivo: avaliar a integração e sentimento de comunidade dos jovens caboverdianos
na sociedade de acolhimento, procurando determinar a influência da
participação cultural e comunitária, o conhecimento e acesso a sistemas e serviços, a
participação política ou cívica, as expectativas sobre imigrantes e portugueses na sua
comunidade e a satisfação com a vida.
Método: Estudo observacional descritivo. Participaram 100 jovens caboverdianos
estudantes universitários dos núcleos de estudantes africanos da UECL,
FCSH-UNL, ISA-UTL, FCT-UNL e ULHT. Foram utilizados o Instrumento de
Avaliação de Integração na Comunidade que enquadra a SCI2, na secção A e a SWLS,
na Secção E.
Resultados: Verificou-se que estes jovens apresentam valores medianos de
sentimento de comunidade no contexto em que têm maior contacto com cidadãos
portugueses e não revelam dificuldades no acesso e conhecimento a sistemas e serviços,
participam com pouca frequência em eventos realizados na comunidade onde residem
actualmente, existe uma relação entre as expectativas sobre os imigrantes e portugueses
na sua comunidade e o nível médio de satisfação com a vida é ligeiro.
Discussão: A participação cultural e comunitária, o conhecimento e acesso a
sistemas e serviços, a participação política ou cívica, as expectativas sobre imigrantes e
portugueses na sua comunidade e a satisfação com a vida podem ter um papel
fundamental no sentimento de comunidade dos jovens cabo-verdianos na sociedade de
acolhimento, influenciando, assim, a qualidade das práticas que levam a uma boa
integração comunitária.
Conclusão: A participação cultural e comunitária, o conhecimento e acesso a
sistemas e serviços, a participação política ou cívica, as expectativas sobre imigrantes e
portugueses na sua comunidade e a satisfação com a vida afirmam-se como variáveis
importantes no desenvolvimento e implementação de programas ou estratégias que
levem a uma integração bem sucedida dos jovens cabo-verdianos na sociedade de
acolhimento.

Discussion: The cultural and community participation, knowledge and access to systems and services, politic and civic participation, expectations about immigrants and Portuguese and satisfaction with life might have a crucial role in the youth Cape- Verdean’s, especially important to overcome good practices that lead to a good community integration. Conclusion: The cultural and community participation, knowledge and access to systems and services, politic and civic participation, expectations about immigrants and Portuguese and satisfaction with life are important variables in the development and implementation of programmes and strategies that lead to a good integration of youth Cape-Verdean at the host community.
