Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: Problem: Studies on deliberate practice (PD) have demonstrated that its use improves the quality of therapeutic interventions. However, its use is still recent and little studied in the field of psychotherapy, thus generating the need to understand the benefits in the training of psychotherapists. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the impact of deliberate practice training on therapists in training with a focus on improving their responses to the ability to repair ruptures in the therapeutic alliance. Method: The quantitative methodology of the General Linear Model was used to analyze the data provided using the Facilitative Interpersonal Skills (FIS) instrument and the qualitative methodology of Grounded Theory in its constructivist approach (Charmaz, 2014) to evaluate the perceptions provided by the participants in the logbook. Results: The results suggest that, in this sample, the exercise of deliberate practice favored the improvement of skills, namely the skill of repairing ruptures in the therapeutic alliance, and that PD training is valued, but is experienced as a challenge.
