Abstract(s)
A amostra
In order to have a positive self-perception and a perception of their own skills, children must have a fulfilling environment. As in parents and pairs are essential to contribute in a different but complementary way to their development. The main purpose of this study is to verify if the parental attachment and the social acceptance are related to positive children’s self-concept during the middle childhood. The reasearch included 110 children (55F and 46M) aged 9 to 10 years. In order to evaluate the variables, the KSS (Kerns, 1996) was used for the linkage, the Sociometry-RS Test (Noel & Strayer, 1989) was used for the social acceptance and the SPPC (Harter, 1989) for the selfconcept. The results showed that the attachment to the father and the mother are positively related to the child's self-concept; on the contrary, the social acceptance (pairs) is only significantly related to the children who developed a positive perception of their own acceptance of the pairs. It is possible to conclude that children’s attachment to both parents and the acceptance of the pairs influence directly the children's self-concept.
