Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: A lucid dream is a dream in which the dreamer is aware that they are dreaming. Several authors have studied the possibility of using lucid dreams therapeutically to treat nightmares. Based on this idea, we put forward 2 hypotheses: lucid dreams correlate negatively with levels of anxiety caused by dreams - and lucid dreams correlate negatively with levels of propensity to have nightmares. Our sample included 325 participants, 252 female and 73 male, aged between 18 and 75. As for the instruments, we used the LuCiD to assess lucidity in dreams (along with other dimensions of dream awareness), the Van Dream Anxiety Scale (VDAS) to understand the levels of anxiety associated with dreams and the Nightmare Proneness Scale (NPS) to understand the levels of propensity to have nightmares. The results did not support our hypotheses
