| dc.description.abstract | O contacto parassocial é pouco estudado em Portugal, mas bastante presente na nossa realidade atual. Muitos procuram este tipo de interações com o intuito de sentirem satisfação quando esta não é vivida no quotidiano. Assim, esta dissertação procura compreender a relação entre o contacto parassocial, a solidão e a pertença na comunidade LGBTQ+. O estudo atual reuniu 104 participantes que se identificaram como membros da comunidade LGBTQ+, com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 50 anos, M = 24,61; DP = 5,22 A recolha de dados realizou-se através de um questionário online, pela plataforma Qualtrics XM, consistindo num questionário sociodemográfico e três instrumentos: "Audience Persona Interaction Scale" (API) (Auter & Palmgreen, 2000), "LGBTQ Belongingness Attainment Scale" (LGBTQBAS) (Murray & Dailey, 2020) e Escala de Solidão UCLA, adaptada para português (Pocinho et al., 2010). Os resultados revelaram um efeito de predição significativo do contacto parassocial sobre a pertença à comunidade LGBTQ+, indicando que quanto mais contacto parassocial maior a pertença, como também foi encontrada uma relação negativa e significativa entre a idade do participante e a pertença, indicando que quanto mais velho o participante, menos pertença sentirá, ambos corroboradas pela literatura Não foram encontradas relações significativas entre a solidão e as outras variáveis. O atual estudo concluiu que sujeitos queer portugueses sentem pertença mais elevada quando o contacto parassocial está presente. Porém, a solidão experienciada por estes e a sua relação com a pertença e o contacto parassocial requerem mais investigação, como a utilização de instrumentos especializados para esta população. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | Parasocial contact is under researched in Portugal yet quite prevalent in our current reality. Many people search for this type of interaction with the goal of feeling fulfilment when this is not felt on a day-to-day basis. Having said this, this thesis attempts to understand the relationships between parasocial contact, loneliness and the felt belongingness in the LGBTQ+ community. The current study had 104 participants, with ages ranging between 18 and 50 years old, M = 24,61; SD = 5,22. Data collection was done through an internet questionnaire, on the Qualtrics XM platform, consisting in a sociodemographic questionnaire and three instruments: "Audience Persona Interaction Scale" (API) (Auter & Palmgreen, 2000), "LGBTQ Belongingness Attainment Scale" (LGBTQBAS) (Murray & Dailey, 2020) and the UCLA Loneliness Scale, adapted to Portuguese (Pocinho et al., 2010). The results revealed that parasocial contact significantly predicted belongingness in the LGBTQ+ community , indicating how the more parasocial contact, the more belongingness will be felt, and it was also found that there is a negative and significant relationship between participant age and felt belongingness, indicating that the older the individual, the less belongingness they feel, both being corroborated by literature. No significant relationships between loneliness and the other two variables were found. The current study concluded that queer Portuguese people feel higher levels of belongingness when parasocial contact is present. However, the loneliness they experience and its relation to belongingness and parasocial contact require more research, as well as specialized instruments for this population. | eng |
