Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: This study aims to understand how self-concept and emotional regulation influence individuals' autobiographical memory. Autobiographical memory is a cognitive capacity that allows individuals to remember the events they have experienced. For memory to develop, it is necessary to develop a sense of self. Memory is also influenced by the emotional regulation strategies used by the individual. Therefore, the Self-Concept and Self-Esteem Scale for Adolescents, the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire – Children and Adolescents (ERQ-CA) and the Autobiographic Memory Test (AMT) were applied to adolescents aged between 13 and 18, from a study center in Sintra. The results showed that, in general, individuals with higher self-concepts and higher levels of emotional suppression had lower autobiographical memory scores.
