Abstract(s)

O presente trabalho consiste num estudo exploratório do abandono infantil no século XVIII e XIX, através da análise de um conjunto de documentos da época escritos pelos familiares das crianças abandonadas na "Roda dos Expostos" da Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa. Estes documentos, a par com outros objectos, na sua maioria objectos de valor simbólico, constituíam "sinais" guardados pela instituição e eram a identidade daquelas crianças. A escolha da amostra obedece a um critério de conveniência pela acessibilidade dos documentos referidos, situação excepcional em relação à maior parte das fontes históricas existentes. Este estudo pretende avaliar os sentimentos e emoções contidos nos referidos documentos a partir de uma grelha de análise por nós elaborada, onde constituem principais categorias os conceitos psicológicos de "Afecto", "Angústia" e "Defesas", determinantes para a temática do abandono. Pela análise dos documentos encontra-se o perfil da criança exposta: ela é recém-nascida, tem um nome escolhido pelos pais, pertence ao sexo masculino, não apresenta deficiências físicas, doenças ou outros sinais particulares. Esta criança teve uma existência física e psicológica na vida dos seus familiares, que com muito sofrimento a entregaram numa instituição credível e respeitada, na esperança de poderem voltar para a vir buscar e retomá-la nas suas vidas. Pela análise da grelha psicológica sobressaem afectos, angústias e defesas das famílias que tinham um valor determinante na exposição da criança fazendo apelo ao místico e ao divino, como uma forma de aceitar a dor que a separação lhes provocava. ABSTRACT The present work consist in an exploitation study of the childhood abandon on XVIII and XIX century, through the analyse of a assemblage of documents of that age written by the family of the abandoned children in the "Roda dos Expostos" of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa. This documents, join with other objects mostly with symbolic value, where the "sign" guarded by the institution, and where the identity of those children. The choose of this sample obey to a criterion of convenience by the accessibility of those documents, exception made of most of the historic documents existents. This study pretend to evaluate the feelings and emotions enclose inside those documents by an instrument created by us for that purpose, where the main categories are the psychological concepts of "Affection", "Distress", and "Defences", very important concepts for the understanding of the thematic of the abandon. By the analyse of the documents is possible to identify the profile of the exhibited child: she is an infant, have a name choose by her family, belong to the masculine gender, doesn't have physical handicap or other diseases, nor even personal characteristics. This child had an existence, physical and psychological in the life of their family which trust the child to a credible and respectable institution, with very suffering, keeping the hope of became to take her. Through the analyse of the material stand out many affects, distresses and defences by the part of the families around the exhibition of the child, appealing to the mystic and the divine as a way to accept the pain caused by the separation.
