Abstract(s)
aplicadas a Subescala Neuroticismo-Ansiedade do Zuckerman-Kuhlman Personality
Questionnaire (ZKPQ; Zuckerman, 2002) e a Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (Watson,
Clark & Tellegen, 1988).
Is neuroticism of older adults influenced by gender and affects? The aim of this study is to test a predictor model of Subjective Well-Being (SWB) in the older adults. The sample includes 240 non-institutionalized subjects, autonomous and functional, with an age range between 65 and the 90 years (M= 73), resident in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, selected by nonprobabilistic methods of sampling, which were applied the Subscale Neuroticism-Anxiety of the Zuckerman-Kuhlman Personality Questionnaire (ZKPQ; Zuckerman, 2002) and the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (Watson, Clark & Tellegen, 1988). In the test of the predictor model of SWB in older adults, it was found that those females showed higher levels of negative affects (NA) and Neuroticism (N), and that negative affects (NA) are a good predictors, amplifying the effect of gender on the N. It was also found that the positive affects (AP) are not related to the gender neither with the N.
