Abstract(s)
comunidades rurais e urbanas. Recorrendo à análise factorial confirmatória (LISREL8.53), a
Given the scarcity of studies on the Satisfaction with Life (LS) in older adults, the objectives of this study consisted in the validation of the Portuguese version of the Index of Satisfaction with Life (ISV; Diniz, Amado & Gouveia, no prelo) for with him proceed with the study of the relation between gender and geographical environment of residence and the LS. The 154 participants (age range= 65-90 years, M=74) who willingly collaborated in the study were residents in rural and urban communities. Using the confirmatory factor analysis (LISREL 8.53), the unidimensional structure of the ISV showed a good convergent validity and a good reliability. In the second study, we tested the predictor Model of LS in Elderly Adults, where the gender, and the environment (rural vs. urban) were taken as antecedents of LS dimension. It was found that both variables were predictors of LS and were men and urban residents who have more LS.
