Abstract(s)
geral do indivíduo, libertando vivencias desagradáveis e estimulando vivencias positivas e
harmoniosas.
Sophrology is a intervation method of meditative nature, that intends, through a deeper state of consciousness and the physical and mental relaxation, to develop a general welfare of the individual, releasing unpleasant experiences and stimulating positive and harmonious livings. This study was designed to contribute to the identification of the impact of the practice of Sophrology on positive and negative affective responses. The study was developed during nine weeks with a group of 21 participants , of both sexes , who believed that Sophrology could be a way to solve their problems of professional or personal stress . In addition to attending a Sophrologic training, for six straight weeks, they responded to a scale of life satisfaction and two scales of affects measurement, before starting the program. They also responded two affect scales during the experience, at the end and after the program. The results showed a clear decrease in the levels of negative affects as Stress , Anxiety and Depression , along and after the intervention. In relation with positive affects, no significant changes between the beginning and end of the program were found. It can be concluded that the practice of Sophrology, during the period in which the intervention happened, had a particularly liberating effect of malaise by lowering levels of negative affective responses. From these results it appears that the practice of Sophrology can be an important tool for the development of the welfare of individuals , suggesting some implications for further studies with this intervention.
