Abstract(s)
A mediação
o bem-estar subjetivo.
ABSTRACT: The aim of this study is to analyze the mediating role of the sense of belonging in the relationship between hedonic and eudaimonic orientations and the subjective well-being of Brazilian immigrants in Portugal. The number of immigrants residing in Portugal has been increasing in recent years, with the Brazilian community currently being the largest among foreign nationals living in the country. Recent studies have highlighted the importance of a sense of belonging for well-being, showing that higher levels of wellbeing are associated with numerous benefits for both physical and mental health. This research included a sample of 210 Brazilian immigrants over the age of 18, and the instruments used were the HEEMA, IASP, SWLS and SPANE. Results revealed a partial mediation of the sense of belonging in the relationship between hedonic orientations and both dimensions of subjective well-being (balance of affects and life satisfaction). The mediation of the sense of belonging in the relationship between eudaimonic orientations and life satisfaction was also partial, while it was complete in relation to balance of affects. Additionally, the sense of belonging was positively correlated with subjective well-being.
