Abstract(s)
A satisfação
ABSTRACT: Early Intervention, in general, may be described as an integrated network of services, support and resources that aim to provide answers to the needs and priorities of families and the special educational needs of their children. Thus, we can say that Early Intervention has, as a main objective, the promotion of child development working at preventive or remedial levels, when there are development delays; the identification of skills and needs of the family and the promotion of interdepartmental coordination. The evaluation of the practices carried out by professionals who provide support to families, as well as early intervention agencies services is extremely important. In Portugal, the concern about the quality of support and services provided by early intervention teams has increased, thereby fostering the emergence of more evaluation studies in character. This study aims to assess the satisfaction of families supported by the department of early intervention from the Center of Child Development – Diferenças. The participants in this study were parents (mothers=27 and fathers=25). The parental satisfaction was evaluated through the answers given by both parents to a Portuguese version of the “European Parental Satisfaction Scale on Early Intervention”. The results of the “European Parental Satisfaction Scale on Early Intervention” show that families are satisfied with service provision and they also show that, there is no significant difference in the satisfaction of the families supported by early intervention service in Center of Child Development – Diferenças, according to the age of their children (0-6 or 7-14) or two program characteristics (payment/free and direct versus indirect support).
