A satisfação com o suporte social em cuidadores informais de idosos : Características individuais do sujeito vs características da rede social do sujeito.

Pretendeu-se estudar a influência das Características Individuais (variáveis Sócio-
Demográficas e factores de personalidade) e das Características da Rede Social (Funcionais e
Estruturais) sobre a Satisfação com o Suporte Social nos Cuidadores Informais de Idosos.
Este trabalho é de carácter exploratório quantitativo e correlacional. A amostra foi constituída
por 106 sujeitos, cuidadores informais de idosos (amostragem de conveniência), com idades
compreendidas entre os 23 e 76 anos (M= 53). Foram utilizados os questionários Questionário
de Suporte Social de Norbeck (Norbeck, J., 1995), Inventário de Personalidade dos Cinco
Factores NEO – forma reduzida (FFI-20) (Bertoquini, V. & Ribeiro, J.P., 2005) e a Escala de
Satisfação com o Suporte Social (Ribeiro, J.P.,1999).Verificou-se uma relação positiva entre
as Características Sócio-Demográficas (Género, Estado Civil e Habilitações Literárias), os
Factores de Personalidade (Neuroticismo), as Características da Rede (Funcionais e
Estruturais) e a Satisfação com o Suporte Social. Verificou-se, ainda, uma relação negativa
entre os Factores da Personalidade (Extroversão, Amabilidade e Conscienciosidade) e a
Satisfação com o Suporte Social.
ABSTRACT: The aim was to study the influence of Individual Characteristics (Socio-demographic and Personality Factors) and the Characteristics of Social Network (Functional and Structural) on Satisfaction with Social Support in Informal Caregivers of Elderly. This work is of exploratory nature, quantitative and correlational. The sample included 106 informal caregivers of elderly people (convenience sampling), with ages ranging from 23 to 76 years (M = 53). The questionnaires applied were: Social Support of Norbeck Questionnaire (Norbeck, J., 1995); Personality Inventory NEO Five Factors – reduced form (FFI-20) (Bertoquini, V. & Ribeiro, J.P., 2005) and Satisfaction with Social Support Scale (Ribeiro, J.P., 1999). There was a positive relationship between Socio-demographic Characteristics (Gender, Marital Status and Qualifications), the Factors of Personality (Neuroticism), Characteristics of the Network (Functional and Structural) and Satisfaction with Social Support. There was also a negative relationship between the Factors of Personality (Extraversion, Agreeableness and Conscientiousness) and Satisfaction with Social Support.
