Abstract(s)
instrumentos: uma adaptação portuguesa do Motives for Online Gaming Questionnaire
ABSTRACT: This study aims to understand the impact of emotional intelligence as a moderation variable between the motivations for online gaming and perceived performance. This study’s sample is comprised of 138 subjects, 111 (80.4%) male, 26 (18.8%) female, and 1 (0.7%) non-binary, aged between 15 and 33 years old. To measure the construct presented in this current study, three instruments were used: a Portuguese Adaptation of Motives for Online Gaming Questionnaire (Demetrovics et al., 2011), a Portuguese adaptation of the Wong & Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (Rodrigues et al., 2011), and Questionário de Perceção de Rendimento (Gomes, 2016). The results showed that individuals with higher levels of emotional intelligence tend to be less affected by the positive effect of motivation for perceived performance, relying more on their own emotional perception, use and regulation skills. The results of this study are relevant due to its findings that emotional intelligence has a moderating interaction between motivation and perceived performance, showing the importance of emotional intelligence interventions to improve a player’s performance.
