Abstract(s)
consequentemente, a necessidade do suporte social.
do luto.
ABSTRACT: Anticipatory grief is a complex emotional process that occurs when individuals face an imminent loss of a loved one due to a terminal illness. Providing care to a loved one can lead to caregiver overload and, consequently, the need for social support. Social support plays a significant role in reducing the inherent stress of caregiving and also in alleviating grief symptoms. On the other hand, the spiritual component emerges as an important resource for some caregivers who use religious practice as a coping mechanism for life's adversities. This study aims to explore the importance of faith and social support in the anticipatory grief of family caregivers. A sample of 155 participants aged 18 to 79 years (M=51.86, SD=12.28) conducted interviews by phone, online, or in person, according to the participant's preference. Descriptive statistical analyses, correlations, and linear regression analyses were performed. The results of this study indicated that the association between anticipatory grief and faith was not significant. However, social support proved to be a more impactful resource for family caregivers. It is evident that emotional support is more relevant than practical support, causing the latter to lose its significance in the model.
