Abstract(s)
e estudantes de cursos de música (n=58), cujas idades variam entre os 18 e os 61 anos (M= 28.61;
DP= 8.631).
“Autoaceitação e Autocompaixão” e “Supressão Emocional e do Pensamento”. Conclusões: São
discutidas as limitações e implicações da presente investigação
ABSTRACT: Background: Music performance anxiety, due to its impact on the well-being, occupational health and performance of musicians, is a widely discussed topic. Investigations have reported the protective role of dispositional mindfulness in the development of symptoms of anxiety and depression. The relationship between these variables has been investigated, with coping identified as one of the partial mediators of this relationship. Objectives: The present study aims to investigate the existence of a relationship between dispositional mindfulness and music performance anxiety symptoms, and whether this relationship is mediated partially by the coping strategies used by musicians. Method: Participated in this study professional musicians (n=96) and music students (n=58). The total number of the sample consisted of 156 participants, whose ages range from 18 to 61 years old (M= 28.61; SD= 8.631). Dispositional mindfulness was measured by the Portuguese version of the Five Facets Mindfulness Questionnaire, symptoms of musical performance anxiety by the Kenny Music Performance Anxiety Inventory and coping strategies by Coping During Music Performance. Results: The results point to an inverse relationship between dispositional mindfulness (“Non-Judgement” and “Acting with Awareness” facets) and symptoms of music performance anxiety. This relationship is partially mediated by the coping strategies of “Positive Focus”, “Self-Acceptance and Self-Compassion” and “Emotional and Thought Suppression”. Conclusions: The limitations and implications of the present investigation are discussed.
