Abstract(s)
This research aimed to understand the relationship between Self-Leadership and Spirituality at Work, also seeking to verify if there is any moderating effect made by Leader Toxicity. For this study, there is a sample, collected via the Internet, consisting of 78 random participants, aged between 18 and 60 years old, 79.5% are female and the remaining 20.5% are male. For this study, three instruments were used, namely three scales: for Self- Leadership, the Portuguese version of the revised Houghton & Neck (2002) Self- Leadership scale adapted by Marques-Quinteiro, Curral, & Passos was used (2012), for Spirituality at Work, was used the scale created by authors Liu & Robertson (2011) and for Leader Toxicity, was used the scale made by authors Schmidt (2008, 2014) and Pelletier (2010) adapted by Rocha (2017). After data collection, we proceeded to the analysis of the results, which demonstrated the first confirmed study hypothesis, and found a positive and significant correlation between Self-leadership and Spirituality, but the second hypothesis of the study was not corroborated because there was no moderating effect of the leader's toxicity on the relationship between Self-Leadership and Spirituality. For future studies, a deeper analysis of the various variable’s dimensions in the study is suggested, in order to understand the true impact that each variable has on the employees, in the organizational context.
