Abstract(s)
and the “Big Five” Personality Dimensions) de Clark, Karau, & Michalisin (2012) e
a versão portuguesa do Ten-Iten Personality Inventory (TIPI), de Nunes, Limpo, Lima
e Castro (2018).
Due to the scarcity of literature on the subject, we tried to investigate the effect of personality types on attitudes towards teleworking, along with the moderating effect of the variable Education, as this is a very important issue for organizations in the current times. The study had the voluntary participation of 253 individuals, 147 (58.3%) female and 105 (41.7%) male, aged between 13 and 75 years. The Telecommuting Attitudes and the "Big Five" Personality Dimensions scale by Clark, Karau, & Michalisin (2012) and the Portuguese version of the Ten-Iten Personality Inventory (TIPI) by Nunes, Limpo, Lima, and Castro (2018) were used. According to the first hypothesis, the results confirmed that the Conscientiousness dimension has a significant impact on the Challenges and Benefits dimensions and the Extroversion dimension only has an impact on the Benefits dimension. Regarding the second hypothesis, it was found that Academic Qualifications only moderates the effect of Extroversion and Emotional Stability in the Challenges dimension, and in the Benefits dimension the effect is only moderated by the Extroversion, Conscientiousness, and Openness to Experience dimensions. We are faced with results that indicate that we may be facing individuals with counterproductive behaviors in Telework and these can be avoided if organizations take measures before investing in the most common way of working nowadays.
