Abstract(s)
internamento aberto e semi-aberto, no Centro Educativo.
complexo e afeta várias dimensões do sujeito.
ABSTRACT: The present study aims to describe, explain and understand the subjective experience of institutionalized juvenile delinquents in a Correctional Facility. Thus, it is through the vision and feeling of institutionalized adolescents, that is investigated the meaning of the experience of this phenomenon. The methodology used in this study is based in a qualitative research of phenomenological nature and, in that way, the phenomenological method by Amedeo Giorgi is used. This method aims to achieve a final description with the essential and invariable constituents of this subjective experience. The sample consists in five participants, male and female, aged 16 to 19 years of age. The participants are incarcerated in open and semi-open conditions, at a Correctional Facility. The results indicate a perceived negative influence, both social and familiar, for delinquency and an awareness of the reason of why they were institutionalized, although they don’t have clear sense of justice towards the measure which they were sentenced. While incarcerated, the deprivation of freedom leads to an emotional vulnerability and, it is noticeable, feelings of repentance, change, adaptation and gratitude towards the Facility. On the other hand, it is felt, by the institutionalized juvenile, an unpleasantness headed towards the Facility's rules. Thus, it is understood that this phenomenon, of the experience of juvenile institutionalization, is very complex and it affects multiple dimensions of the subject.
