Abstract(s)
recordar conscientemente as experiências, informações e eventos passados. As teorias acerca
Estes Life
do género masculino).
ABSTRACT: Autobiographical memories are defined as an individual’s capacity to consciously remember past experiences, events and information. The theories on autobiographical memory have so far focused primarily on the individual and minimised the impact that culture exerts over the content and structure of autobiographical memory. In recent years, however, new theories have emerged asserting that the process of evoking emotionally charged memories could be moulded by so-called Life Scripts. These Life Scripts look at culturally shared expectations on the temporal location and order of life events over a prototypical life. The aim of this research project was to study the characteristics of Life Scripts in the population of Portugal. The sample comprised 82 subjects (52 females, 30 males.) To this end, several clinical and experimental instruments were applied, such as Beck’s Depression Inventory (BDI), Life Script Events Questionnaires, Adult Attachment Scale-R (AAS-R) and the Interpersonal Problems Inventory (IIP). The version applied was in Portuguese. The results found 43 categories of Life Scripts that were created as close to the subjects’ own words as possible. Some correlations were found between the categories and subscales of AAS-R; and the categories and subscales of IIP.
