Abstract(s)
A investigação evidenciou consequências práticas notáveis nomeadamente, a
realistas quanto a autoavaliações construtivas.
ABSTRACT: The aim of this study is to understand if there is an interaction between perfectionism and the performance of youth football players. Additionally, it was verified whether the affective well-being has a moderating role in the relationship previously mentioned (perfectionism - performance). Data was collected through an online protocol, answered by 144 football players of a single football club, covering players who are starting to specialise (under 14) to those who are starting to become professionals (under 23). The results support the first hypothesis, indicating a significant association between perfectionism and performance. The second hypothesis was also confirmed, showing that affective well-being moderates this relationship. The research showed notable practical consequences, namely the inclusion of psychological support programs, where both realistic goal definitions and constructive self-assessments are addressed.
