Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: The main goal of the present study is to ascertain the opinions and attitudes of individuals in shared workspaces (i.e., offices). In this sense, will be studied the crowding effect and some consequences of this phenomenon. The reactions mentioned in the literature are satisfaction with the workspace, the withdrawal from the workspace and the relationships with co-workers (positive or negative). This is a quantitative correlational study and was applied to the working population in general. It is expected that the greater number of people per office, the less satisfaction with the office, the greater withdrawal from the workspace and the worse relationships with office colleagues. The results show that only one effect has been confirmed: the greater the number of people per office, the less satisfaction with the office. These results are consistent with the theoretical model underlying the assessment of crowding in this study, confirming that this phenomenon depends on the satisfaction with space and relationships with others who are in that space, rather than the social density itself.
