Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: This study aims to analyze the relationship between family functioning and well-being, as well as to assess the possible moderating effect of fatigue on its relationship in Commercial Aviation flight personnel. Therefore, the following hypotheses were formulated: 1) the family functioning has a significant and positive association with wellness; 2) perceived fatigue has a significant and negative association with wellness; 3) perceived fatigue has a moderation effect on the relationship between family functioning and wellness. This investigation had the intervention of 59 participants (10 men and 49 women) aged between 20 and 49 years of age (M = 26.56; DP = 5.745), all employed as flight crew (pilots and cabin crew), working in Portugal or abroad on several commercial airlines. The results indicate a significant and positive impact of family functioning in wellness but does not indicate that the family functioning has a significant and positive association with health, resulting on the partial confirmation of H1; The significant and negative association between fatigue and wellness was seen, confirming H2; H3 was confirmed as the results point to a moderator effect of fatigue on the relationship between family functioning and wellbeing.
