Abstract(s)
Pretende-se com este estudo compreender quais as expectativas vividas pelos principais
intervenientes num processo de sucessão de uma Empresa Familiar (EF).
As EF constituem pilares essenciais para a estabilidade do tecido empresarial de um país,
sendo a forma empresarial predominante na economia dos mercados actuais. É indiscutível a
importância deste tipo de empresas no produto nacional bruto e no emprego das pessoas de cada
país.
Este estudo foi levado a cabo numa Grande Empresa Familiar que encontra a sua
actividade distribuída pela Industria, Serviços, Comércio, Agricultura, Imobiliário, Hotelaria e
Distribuição, sendo o seu principal negócio a torrefacção e venda de café.
Tendo este estudo sido desenvolvido em duas fases, uma qualitativa e uma quantitativa,
foram encontrados dois resultados. Os da fase qualitativa vão ao encontro da literatura
considerada, enquanto que os da fase quantitativa levam-nos a concluir que não existem
diferenças significativas das expectativas dos colaboradores face à liderança da organização,
quer no presente com o actual responsável máximo, quer no futuro quando for o sucessor o
seu responsável máximo. Apenas na variável idade, para as expectativas de liderança no
presente e na variável antiguidade, para as expectativas de envolvimento no presente, se
encontram diferenças.
Na conclusão serão discutidas as principais conclusões e implicações do estudo.
ABSTRACT: This study has the purpose of understanding the expectations of each intervenient in a Family Business succession process. Family Business is essential for a healthy business stability of a country. These kinds of enterprises are predominant in the present economies. It is undoubtedly the importance of such firm’s contribution on gross national product and employment of each country. This study was carried out in a Big Family Business developing its activity in several economic business areas, being the main one the coffee roasting and selling. 2 Since this study was developed in two different phases, qualitative and quantitative, two different results were found. In qualitative phase conclusions were accordingly to the literature considered, while in the quantitative phase, results lead us to conclude that there are no significant differences between the expectations of employees concerning leadership, either presently with the current maximum responsible, or in the future when his successor is the leader. Differences were found only for variables age, concerning expectations for present leadership and seniority, to the expectations of involvement in present. In conclusion section main findings and implications of the study will be discussed.
