| dc.description.abstract | O início da investigação acerca da homoparentalidade surgiu com o propósito de avaliar se a identidade sexual, inicialmente de mães lésbicas e, mais tarde de pais gays, interferia no desenvolvimento psicológico, sexual, comportamental e relacional dos seus filhos. Neste âmbito, as conclusões dos estudos relevaram-se unânimes a apontar para a inexistência de diferenças significativas, entre filhos de famílias homoparentais e heteroparentais. Pais e mães homossexuais e heterossexuais, parecem ser igualmente capazes de executar funções parentais adequadas. No entanto, em contextos sociais mais homofóbicos e heterossexistas, as famílias homoparentais podem apresentar dificuldades acrescidas, em termos das suas vivências sociais e integrativas. Apesar disso, através de recursos intrínsecos e extrínsecos adequados, estas configurações, podem ser capazes de colmatar possíveis efeitos negativos das experiências de estigmatização e vitimização social. O principal objetivo deste estudo, é conhecer as experiências sociais de um grupo de quatro famílias homoparentais portuguesas que conceberam os seus filhos em anteriores relacionamentos heterossexuais. Os dados foram recolhidos, por meio de um questionário sociodemográfico e de uma entrevista semiestruturada. Para a análise das entrevistas, foi utilizado o método de análise temática, que revelou cinco grandes temas: Revelação da identidade sexual aos filhos; revelação da identidade sexual à família de origem e contextos sociais mais alargados; vivência da parentalidade em contexto social e familiar; caracterização do envolvimento em contexto comunitário; dificuldades na vivência plena da identidade sexual. As principais conclusões apontam para diferenças entre mães lésbicas/bissexuais e pais gays/bissexuais em termos do seu enquadramento social e comunitário e vivência da sua homoparentalidade. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The beginning of homoparenthood investigation emerged with the objective of evaluating if sexual identity, initially of lesbian mothers and later of gay fathers, interfered in the psychological, sexual, behavioural and relational development of their children. In this sense all conclusions of the studies revealed that there were no significative differences between the children of homoparental and hetero-parental families. Homosexual and heterosexual parents seem to be equally capable of performing adequate parental functions. Yet, in more homophobic and heterosexist social settings, the homoparental families may present additional difficulties, regarding their social and integrative experiences. Nevertheless, through adequated internal and external resources, these models are able to remedy the possible negative effects of their exeperiences in social stigmatisation and victimisation. The main objective of this study is to get to know the social experiences of a group of four Portuguese homoparental families that conceived their children in previous heterosexual relations. Data were obtained through a sociodemographic questionnaire and a through a semi-structured interview. Interviews were analysed using the thematic analysis method and five extended themes were revealed: Revelation to the children of the sexual identity; revelation to the family of origine and to more extended social settings of the sexual identity; experience of parenthood in the social and family settings; characterization of the involvement in the community setting; difficulties in the full experience of the sexual identity. The main conclusions point to differences between lesbian/bisexual mothers and gay/bisexual fathers regarding their social and community environment and experiences of their homoparenthood. | pt_PT |
