Abstract(s)
The sexual assault on the university campus is an urgent social problem, which is increasingly recognized, and it is extremely important to develop prevention and intervention strategies. Fear and shame often dominate both women and men and this fact leads to not presented complaints, but, in otherwise, this traumatic event leaves severe marks physically and psychologically and socially. This phenomenon is widely debated in the United States of America, however, in Portugal, it is still an understudied topic. In that way, this study aims to develop a critical analysis to characterize this phenomenon, its consequences and to analyse the effectiveness of prevention and intervention programs. To support this study, a review of the literature and a themed analysis were carried out with real testimonies, using the documentary “The Hunting Ground” as basis.
