Abstract(s)
Relacional.
negativamente a Desilusão Relacional.
Diferenciação do Self, a dimensão Posição do Eu predisse significativamente o Desejo Sexual,
assim como, o Cut-Off Emocional predisse significativamente a Desilusão Relacional. Por
último, a dimensão do Cut-Off Emocional predisse significativamente, mas negativamente a
Intimidade.
Compromisso.
ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study was to understand the impact of Self Differentiation and its dimensions (Emotional Reactivity, Fusion with Others, Emotional Cut-Off, and Self Position) on Intimacy, Sexual Desire, Commitment and Relational Disillusionment. The study included 91 participants, involved in a romantic relationship for at least 6 months, aged between 20 and 30 years old. They were recruited online, through the “snowball” sampling method, to respond to the following scales: Self Differentiation Inventory – Revised (IDS-R), Inventory of Perceived Relational Quality Components (IPRQC), Relational Disillusionment Scale (EDR) and the Hurbert Sexual Desire Inventory (HISD). Regarding the most prominent results, it was possible to understand that the Self Differentiation variable significantly and positively predicts Intimacy and Sexual Desire, while significantly but negatively predicts Relational Disillusionment. Regarding the dimensions of the Self Differentiation scale, the Self Position dimension significantly predicted Sexual Desire, just as Emotional Cut-Off significantly predicted Relational Disillusionment. Finally, the Emotional Cut-Off dimension significantly but negatively predicted Intimacy. The study aims to understand how the Self Differentiation process predicts different components of marital life. Finally, and considering the findings that are contrary to the scientific literature, some hypotheses are put forward regarding the fact that the Self Differentiation variable does not predict Commitment.
