ABSTRACT: The following study aims to test the impact of two types of part-time (voluntary and involuntary) in terms of laboral satisfaction and collaborators’ engagement. The question that arises is: Does part-time (voluntary and involuntary) have an impact on satisfaction and engagement? Then the hypothesis of an investigation was considered: Voluntary part-time workers will show high levels of satisfaction and engagement if compared with workers who do it involuntarily. 297 collaborators from different organizations, based in portuguese territories and in various activity sectors participated in this study. The results showed that the participants who work as a voluntary basis have a higher level of laboral satisfaction and engagement in every dimensions. By comparing the type pf part-time according to the gender we can also see that the participants who work in a voluntary way show meaningful differences among themselves. However, the same doesn’t occur among workers who work in an involuntary part-time.
