O envolvimento paterno de crianças a frequentar o jardim-de-infância

| dc.description.abstract | A presente investigação teve como objectivo analisar se a participação do pai, relativamente à da mãe, varia consoante o tipo de actividade analisada, nomeadamente os Cuidados Directos e Indirectos; Ensino/Disciplina; Brincadeira; e Lazer no Exterior. 338 famílias bi-parentais, a viver na região de Lisboa, participaram no estudo. As características individuais dos pais (idade e habilitações literárias), da criança (idade, género, se é primogénito, existência de irmãos), e variáveis de contexto/suporte social (número de horas que os pais passam no emprego, número de horas que as crianças passam no Jardim de Infância e idade em que a criança começou a frequentar o estabelecimento de ensino), foram analisadas como possíveis factores explicativos do nível e tipo de envolvimento do pai. O estudo procurou ainda verificar a possibilidade de existência de diferentes grupos de envolvimento. Os resultados apontam no sentido de um envolvimento paterno que flutua de acordo com a actividade em causa, sendo que a participação paterna tende a diminuir nos domínios dos Cuidados, onde as mães assumem maior responsabilidade, e a aumentar nos restantes, onde se regista um envolvimento partilhado. Existem associações entre o envolvimento paterno e o número de horas que a mãe despende no emprego, as habilitações literárias maternas e a idade da criança. Dado que o aumento destas tende a potenciar a participação paterna. Com base em Análises de Clusters obtiveram-se 3 tipos de grupos consoante o tipo e nível de envolvimento: o Activo, o Intermédio e o Tradicional Analisou-se ainda a concordância parental tendo em conta os três grupos referidos ao nível do envolvimento, discutindo-se as possíveis consequências no funcionamento do sistema familiar. ------ ABSTRACT ------ The aim of the study was to understand fathers’ participation in different types of activities: Direct and Indirect Care; Teaching/Discipline; Play; and Outside Leisure. 338 bi-parental families from Lisbon/ Portugal, participated in the study. Associations between fathers/mothers individual characteristics (e.g., age and educational level) as well as children’s (e.g., age, gender, order of birth and number of brothers), as well as context/social support variables (e.g., working schedule, number of hours children spend at pre-school) and father’s type and amount of involvement were analyzed. The study also sought to find the possibility of the existence of different groups of involvement. The results indicate that a father’s involvement usually fluctuates depending on the activity, however also decreasing in fields such as care, where mothers assume more responsibility but increase in other fields where there is a shared involvement. The input of paternal responsibility has also been noted to increase based on several differences such as the number of hours the mother spends at work, the maternal qualifications and child’s age. Results also showed the existence of different groups of involvement (paternal and maternal), particularly those such as the Active, Intermediate and the Traditional where characteristics were studied as well as agreements between both parents. | por |
