Abstract(s)
Ayahuasca is a psychedelic Amazonian brew produced by a combination of several ingredients. Integrated in the western diaspora, scientific evidence shows interesting results in the therapeutic effects of ayahuasca, such as antidepressant and anxiolytic. A Case Study was conducted, including Rorschach and Mini-Mult tests and clinical interviews in all three assessment periods: 2 weeks before the ayahuasca ritual, approximately 48 hours after the ritual and about 1 and a half months later. The Mini-Mult scores reveal a steady decrease in psychopathology. However, this improvement is justified by the subject with his new professional occupation. Thus, the Rorschach test highlights an escalation in less elaborate defense mechanisms. Taking into account the exploratory nature of this study, some hypotheses are made to address this seemingly discourse.
