Abstract(s)
permanece pouco explorado, a persuasão.
realizados através do software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS).
ABSTRACT: Problem: The interpersonal skills of psychotherapists are a crucial factor for positive outcomes throughout the therapeutic process. Several characteristics of psychotherapists have already been widely explored. However, this study was conducted due to a gap in the scientific knowledge about one attribute that remains underexplored, persuasion. Persuasion is a skill of considerable relevance to the effectiveness of psychotherapy (Frank & Frank, 1991). Objective: This observational study aims to evaluate psychotherapists' persuasive abilities and to examine and compare potential significant differences in persuasion levels across five different therapeutic approaches and throughout the course of psychotherapy sessions. Method: Through the analysis of twenty-three videos of individual psychotherapy sessions, the Therapist’s Persuasiveness Rating Scale (Afonseca et al., 2022) was applied, with the individual evaluation, conducted by three observers to ensure the authenticity and accuracy of the results, statistical analyses were conducted, using the software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Results: A progressive increase in persuasion levels was observed throughout the therapy sessions, indicating a constant improvement in the effectiveness of persuasive interventions as the treatment progressed. In addition, some significant differences were identified in the effectiveness of persuasive characteristics when comparing various psychotherapeutic approaches, highlighting the Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), followed by Person Centred Therapy (PCT) and the one that presented least effectiveness, but still relevant, Schema Therapy (ST).
