A qualidade da experiência de meditação pode ser mais relevante do que os benefícios
dos seus efeitos, existindo portanto, uma necessidade de avaliar a qualidade de
meditação, em vez de apenas os benefícios que ela nos traz (Kabat-Zinn et al., 1986).
Por isso, neste estudo achou se pertinente a utilização de uma escala que avalia-se as
aptidões cognitivas, efeitos físicos, emocionais e espirituais de meditação tanto durante
a meditação como na vida quotidiana.
Este estudo pretende investigar a relação entre a prática da meditação, bem-estar
espiritual e bem-estar subjetivo, assim como, a experiencia de meditadores durante a
meditação e efeitos percebidos no dia-a-dia. Também se pretende verificar se a
meditação é indutora de um maior bem-estar espiritual e subjetivo, comparando
meditadores com não meditadores. Os instrumentos utilizados foram a Escala de
Avaliação da Experiência Meditativa de Reavley & Pallant (2009), a Escala de Bem-
Estar Espiritual, “Spiritual Health And Life-Orientation Measure” (SHALOM), Escala
da Satisfação com a vida de Diener e Escala de Afectos positivos e negativos (PANAS).
A primeira sub-amostra foi selecionada por conveniência, constituindo-se por
praticantes de vários tipos de meditação e a segunda, constituiu-se por pessoas da
população em geral.
The quality of the meditation experiment can be more important than benefits of the effects of it, existing therefore, a need in this study to evaluate the quality of the meditation, instead of only the effects of it (Kabat-Zinn et al., 1986). That is why, in this study it was pertinente to use a scale that measure cognitive, physical, emotional and spiritual effects of meditation during a meditation and also in daily life. This study intend to investigate relation between the practice of meditation, spiritual well-being and the subjective well-being, as well as the meditator experience during a meditation and perceived effects on daily basis. It is also intend whether a meditation is conducive to greater spiritual and subjective well-being by comparing meditators with non-meditators. The instruments used in this study were Meditative Experience Rate Scale by Reavley & Pallant (2009), Spiritual Well-Being Scale, Spiritual Health And Life-Orientation Measure” (SHALOM), Satisfation with Life Scale by Diener and Positive and Negative Affection Scale (PANAS). The first sub-sample was selected for convenience, constituted of practitioners of various types of meditation and the other one was constituted of people from general population.
