Abstract(s)
Desta forma, o estudo teve a
ABSTRACT: The main purpose of this investigation was to explore the mediating role of Differentiation of Self and its dimensions (I Position, Fusion with Others, Emotional Cut-off and Emotional Reactivity) in the relationship between Conflict Resolution in the Family of Origin and Functioning of the Current Family. Furthermore, it also intended to investigate the mediating role of Family Resilience in the relationship between Conflict Resolution in the Family of Origin and Family Functioning. Thus, the study had the participation of 97 participants, aged at least 25 years and who had lived with their partner for at least 1 year. Recruitment was done online, using the “snowball” sampling method. The questionnaire contains the following instruments: Family of Origin Scale, Family Climate Inventory (FCI), Differentiation of Self Inventory – Revised (DSI-R), Family Flexibility and Cohesion Assessment Scale (FACES IV) and Walsh Family Resilience Questionnaire. Regarding the results, it should be noted that the present investigation found a significant relationship between Conflict Resolution in the Family of Origin and only one of the dimensions of Family Functioning, namely, Cohesion. Regarding the mediating variables, only Emotional Cut-off significantly mediated this relationship, where it explained approximately 2.1% of the variability in the relationship between Cohesion and Conflict Resolution in the Family of Origin. Regarding the second hypothesis, this study indicates that Family Resilience significantly mediate the relationship between Conflict Resolution in the Family of Origin and Cohesion. In summary, the results found corroborate the influence of the experiences of the family of origin on the future family system, both in its functioning and in resilience. Finally, for some results found that do not support the existing scientific literature, explanatory hypotheses are therefore discussed regarding Emotional Reactivity, I Position and Fusion with Others.
