As sequelas serão
auto-imagem danificada.
It is known that cancer ratings are increasing in worldwide populations, however, everyday new medical and technological approaches are developed to eradicate this particular disease that doesn’t chooses ages, genders or ethnies. Pediatric cancer is the deadliest disease among children, but is also in this area that we can find the most developed and advanced techniques in therapies and ways to fight back this disease. Thanks to these advances, most of childhood cancers aren’t fatal anymore. No doubt that this is a powerful and remarkable situation that will leave in the child physical and psychological sequellae from the early diagnosis until the end of the process, whichever might the consequences be. These sequellae will be felt not only by the child, but also by her closest family. Assuming that children’s drawings express the emotional personality of its author (Di Leo, 1983), we used Goodenough’s Draw a Man Test as an instrument to access to this sort of information. In order to do so, we realized a quantitative study in which we compared 6 drawings of the human figure of healthy children with 6 drawings of the human figure of children with cancer. Oppositely to what we thought that we would find, the results we observed, revealed in general, that the children with cancer have invested more in the execution of their task comparably to the healthy children, not demonstrating, at this point, a damaged self image.
